Our Inspiration

Derived from the intricate narrative of Dante’s "Inferno," BolgiaTen draws its name from the last and tenth Bolgia of the Eighth Circle, home to The Falsifiers. Unlike the allegorical sinners, our journey navigates the complex landscape of the 'Data Inferno.'

Our mission is to confront and conquer the challenges of data integrity in the digital era. Dr. W. Edwards Deming, a visionary economist, declared in the 1960s that "it’s all about the Data." This statement is even more relevant today as we step into the era of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Ensuring data protection and integrity is crucial for achieving ethical, transparent, and accountable AI outcomes.

The Vision

Professor Paul Morrissey

Chairman & Co-Founder

Professor Paul Morrissey, C.Eng, FIET, FBCS, FRSA, is a Global Ambassador for AI, Big Data Analytics/Governance, Customer Experience, and Smart Cities at TM Forum. With a 20-year track record, he has developed AI-based products across international telecommunications, technology operations, and maritime software.

As a recognised international business leader, he advises global company boards on innovation, big data analytics, machine learning, customer experience, and artificial intelligence. His expertise spans digital media, blockchain, B-OSS, SaaS, computer/internet security, the Metaverse, and Web 3.0 technologies. Professor Morrissey collaborates closely with venture capital and private equity groups to identify and exploit market opportunities.

Julian Longson

Julian Longson, former CEO of Pole Star for 7 years and a director for 17 years, played a pivotal role in shaping the maritime industry. His contributions include pioneering web-based ship tracking (Purplefinder), ship security alert systems (DSAS), long-range identification/tracking (LRIT DC / MDA), and maritime sanctions screening/KYC (PurpleTRAC).

Additionally, he championed integrated supply chain sustainability and ESG solutions (Vasanda Ecosphere). Since January 2023, Julian has served as a Strategic Adviser to both Pole Star Space Applications Ltd. and Bolgiaten Ltd., providing startup and CEO mentoring services. His leadership during his tenure as CEO of Pole Star Space Applications Limited was marked by successful sales, marketing, business development, and product innovation. With a global team of nearly 200 staff across offices in Hong Kong, London (HQ), Tampa (USA), and Panama City (Panama), Julian adeptly navigated cultural shifts, remote work challenges, and strategic decision-making.

Buddhika Gamage

Buddhika is a PhD candidate of University of Essex exploring to apply multi agent reinforcement learning and unsupervised deep clustering for Maritime Industry. He is well experienced in designing and architecting Generative AI and Machine Learning solutions using cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Azure and big data platforms like Hadoop.

A strategic thinker, who he is specialised in data science, governance, and engineering. Buddhika is holding bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Masters in Business Administrator and second Masters in Data Science. Currently serving as an AI Consultant and used to be the Head of Data Engineering for Axiata Digital Services.

Brandon Kelly

Brandon, with a First-class master’s degree in Astrophysics from Aberystwyth, possesses a strong foundation in quantitative analysis and problem-solving. Over 5 years, he pursued a PhD in Astrophysics, leveraging cloud computing and data manipulation. His familiarity with the AI Factory approach underscores his expertise.

As a data engineer at Bolgiaten, Brandon specialises in satellite imaging. His background in Astrophysics includes work on quantum computing and black holes during his studies at Aberystwyth University. Notably, he spent 5 months in Svalbard, in the Arctic, studying the Aurora. In his spare time, Brandon enjoys writing and playing music with his band, Neon Oracle.

Oshada Jayasinghe

Oshada, a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne, focuses his research at the intersection of Intelligent Transportation Systems and Machine Learning. His research contributions include three publications at IEEE/CVF WACV 2022, IEEE ICMLA 2021 and IEEE IV Symposium 2022 focused on road marking detection, lane detection and traffic sign detection, respectively.

Furthermore, he was able to achieve the country’s best results in the Mathematics stream during his A/L exams and he has been awarded the CIMA Sri Lankan Prize for his operational case study. His passion for technology and innovation drives his impactful contributions to the field. With a B.Sc. Engineering (Hons) in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Oshada brings 2+ years of work experience as a Data Engineer at ADL and a Machine Learning Engineer at WSO2. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, playing badminton, and swimming.

Sumani Rajadurai

Sumani, a seasoned Principal Machine Learning Engineer with a PhD in Computer Science, has over a decade of pioneering expertise in data science and AI. With a global footprint spanning Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and the USA, he has cultivated and led multinational AI teams, delivering transformative solutions across diverse industries including Telco, Retail, Banking & Finance, and Marketing.

Sumani's portfolio showcases a track record of architecting and deploying cutting-edge machine learning products, driving substantial business impact. Renowned for his strategic acumen, Sumani collaborates closely with C-suite executives, shaping AI strategies and spearheading visionary projects. With a relentless commitment to innovation, Sumani remains at the forefront of technological advancement, catalysing growth and value creation for his clients.

David James Wood

David has spent the past 10 years enabling a diverse range of founders, artists, and businesses, helping them creatively to realise their ambition and secure six-figure investments.

Udesha Senanayake

Head of Project Management

Udesha is an accomplished Electrical Engineer with a Master of Science in Photonics from Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena, Germany and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Information Engineering from the University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka. With five years of professional experience, she has contributed significantly to electricity projects, power systems, and procurements. Her research expertise lies in manufacturing organic semiconductors using inkjet printing technology.

Udesha’s career journey includes roles as a Research Assistant at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering (Jena, Germany) and as an Electrical Engineer at the Ceylon Electricity Board (Colombo, Sri Lanka), where she successfully led efforts in project completion.
